Private Lessons are essential to violin training. This type of traditional style teaching gives students 30 minutes of individualized instruction. They can learn at their own pace in a challenging, yet nurturing environment. During the private lessons, students will learn specific violin technique taught in sequential steps, as well as ear training, note reading, theory, fiddling and classical music.
Group lessons are a way of making music together. It is one of the greatest joys for the amateur as well as the professional musician. Ensemble playing makes the musician! Students learn to play together and encourage each other. This is a very powerful teaching tool. The groups will be formed according to age to ensure appropriate pacing for the lesson. Group lessons are held once a month.
In 2004, Leslie attended a violin workshop in Harlem with Roberta Guaspari, whose life story was depicted in the movie “Music of the Heart” with Meryl Streep. Roberta’s teaching method and love of children has inspired Leslie in many ways, ways that Leslie hopes to emulate. It is her dream to share this violin-filled inspiration and love for music throughout the Outer Banks.
